Meet the teen behind SHREDS firestarters...
Ben is a 16 year old sophomore at Conard High School with autism. He enjoys swimming, listening to music and watching YouTube videos.
He also loves to sit in front of a roaring fire.
In the winter, his fireplace is ablaze almost every night.
In the summer, he loves to sit around a firepit on weekends with family and friends.
Ben is nonverbal and can find many vocational skills challenging so when Ben started shredding paper it was such an AHA moment
We combined what we knew about Ben's interests and his skill level to create SHREDS firestarters
Ben picks the colors for the paper and shreds all the paper. He places in it muffin pans where a perfected combination of all natural wax and sawdust is added.
For the pinecone firestarters, Ben hikes with family and friends and finds the perfect pinecones.
Ben also makes SHREDS Egg Firestarters using the same formula but in a convenient 12-pack. Just tear off a SHREDS Egg and light it under your wood.
